Eric Carle PLAY! PARK

Updated: Oct 10, 2022

One of the most aesthetically pleasing designed indoor play centre we've been to in Tokyo for children aged 0-12.

Our daughter absolutely loves The Very Hungry Caterpillar book by Eric Carle so when I found out there was a play centre dedicated to the author and the book we had to check it out and it did not disappoint, to the fact that we have been numerous times.

The PLAY! PARK is located in Futako Tamagawa Rise Shopping Center on the 8th floor, it's super convenient to get to, right across from Futako-Tamagawa Station and there is plenty to do in the area if you want to explore the mall and restaurants.

They have reservation time slots and we booked tickets online, for our 1st visit it was ¥2,500 but there after its been ¥2,000 if you remember to bring the reusable cup they give you to fill up with complimentary tea and coffee when you are inside.

Once inside it's amazing with so many area's to explore, to learn and to play. The kids can run around, jump, climb, read, draw, paint and follow their own instincts of what to do next. We let our daughter lead the way in what she wanted to do and it was so cool just letting her run free and choose where to go next. It's suitable for children ages 0-12 I would say. They have a zone for younger children and babies and they even have a breastfeeding area for those mums that need to in the baby zone.

I've included a map of the various rooms in the PARK! PLAY that I used from from their website, you can see in more details the different rooms on their site.

Tips:

  1. If you can go during a week day it's a lot better as obviously it's less crowded and I felt more relaxed in there than during a weekend. The weekends are still busy but I did not find it as overwhelming compared to other play centre's like Asobono.

  2. On the weekend we had a ticket for the time slot of 10:30-12:30 but we still had to line up for a bout 10 to 20 mins to get inside so take that into consideration when arriving on the weekend.

  3. The restaurant level on the weekend is very crowded so if you want to eat there I suggest one parent leaves and go line up while the other parent stays and plays till a table is ready for you to head straight down.

  4. Or you can venture to the other side of the complex to this restaurant GOOD MEALS SHOP 二子玉川 which is kid friendly and doesn't attract the restaurant level crowd.
